There’s a problematic Taylor Swift song being winderfully played on stage, & I’m surrounded on all sides by awkward college students shuffling their heavy feet…

Writing this one out & about. I’ve a whole bunch of work to be done in the aftermath of Sunday’s show, my room is an absolute chaotic whirlpool of clothing & cables.

So why am I forgoing these responsibilities?? Well, I’m trying to get out to see more people. Especially people I think are actually good! Naturally, I’m not the biggest fan of gigs. They’re hot, sweaty, & I never know what to do with myself. In these places I can close down & shy away. Anyways, that’s not what I’m here to write about.

After the show on Sunday I’m feeling elated with the unburdening of ticket sales. I love playing shows, but putting them on is such a nightmare. It’s time I took a big ol break from them, at least organising them.

Very few people understanf the pain of filling a small room. Part of my trying to get out more, has been born out of sympathy. It takes a whole lot of effort to get out to a show. Even beyond the whole ‘being poor & buying tickets’ thing, it takes your evening too. (which is a precious resource)

There were those, with complimentary tickets that missed my show, & there were Patrons who payed for a ticket even though they had one for free. Seeing a face in the crowd, & in the small rooms I play I do see them, is a very meaningful thing. Artists remember those faces forever, I can see ya’ll every time I rehearse to an empty room.

I’ll keep this quick, cause the show’s coming to an end & people need congratulating, but I’ll leave you with a thank you to those who go to shows.

Until next week,

N
